Gautam Prakash, the founder of Monsoon Capital, said that the firm focuses on quant strategies to rebuild its assets base. The firm’s assets had declined to $150 million in March 2009 from $1.6 billion before the financial crisis.
“The quant approach is the way we are trying to revive the fortunes of the firm,” said Prakash.
Monsoon capital‘s AUM is now $ 400 million, including $55 million in an India focused quant-driven fund. The firms, which managed India focused long only fund, has transformed itself into quantitative shop betting across Asia-Pacific.
