UK hedge fund TCI Plans to revisit India

The Children Investment Fund (TCI), a UK based hedge fund,  is planning to re-enter India market.  TCI had significant investment in leading PSU Banks such as Punjab National Bank (PNB), State Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Indian Overseas Bank.

“We are looking at further investments in India, but will enter at the right levels,” said Oscar Veldhuijzen, partner, TCI. The fund currently has no positions in banking and financial services stocks. However, TCI invested close to a $1 billion ( 4,500 crore) in Coal India during the latter’s share sale in October year and it is the single-largest shareholder in the company after the government of India.
